Philipsburg-Osceola Mountie Football History

The Philipsburg-Osceola football program began in 1956 after the merger of Philipsburg and Osceola Mills High Schools.  The team finished 4-6-0 in its first season, posting victories over Bellefonte, Chief Logan, Morris Township and State College, while falling to Clearfield, Curwensville, DuBois, Hollidaysburg, Moshannon Valley and Tyrone.

The Mounties have had 21 winning seasons in P-O history, including one undefeated team in 1984 (11-0).  P-O teams have captured the 2004 Mountain Athletic Football Conference, the 1984 and 1989 Big Eight Conference, and the 1959, 1984, 1987, 1989 and 1995 Central Counties Conference and 1988 Western Conference Championships.  P-O was also a charter member of the Mountain Athletic Conference in 2004.

Jon Condo, a Philipsburg-Osceola and University of Maryland graduate, is presently playing professional football for the Oakland Raiders.
